Your data is sent by IBM i applications, in real time so it is always up-to-date and ready. The IBM i native programs populate Excel templates.
The final workbook is updated during data insertion.
There is no need for error-prone and laborious double entry input.
And you can also do the reverse: with LAUNCHER 400 Office for Excel, IBM i native programs can read the contents of Excel spreadsheets. Program variable values can be moved to and from Excel cells

With LAUNCHER 400 Office, OS/400 native programs can take full advantage of Microsoft Word’s data printout, and DOC and PDF file creation features.
Users can create Word templates, including headers, footers, varied fonts, graphics, images, tables, object, links, …
The IBM i applications merge data from DB2/400 files into the Excel templates and automatically modify Word documents. Your documents are then saved to network or IFS directories, in various popular file formats such as DOC, RTF or PDF. Documents can then be emailed or faxed.

Security

The system is secure – administrators do not need to grant DB2/400 table and file access directly; IBM i native programs retrieve the data from Query/400, SQL, physical or logical files, and send it to the users. Additionally, LAUNCHER 400 Office does not require ODBC or IBM i Client Access.
Avoid the dangers of letting end users run their own queries, and paste the data to Excel and Word.

Quick and easy programming 

With a single CL command, the IBM i native program merges a query to a Word or Excel template, saves the result in Office or PDF format, and then prints it to a local printer or an to an OUTQ. The document generation process can run in batch or interactively. Users can have their documents displayed, with a personalized menu to send instructions back to the OS/400 programs.
